[ As Qrow spends more time with Gerry, the reason why Gerry is Eye-aligned probably becomes more and more apparent: he has a tendency to watch others, to not shy away from intense observation or eye contact. It serves Gerry well, most of the time, and he notices the way Qrow rubs at his neck. Gerry thinks he saw Qrow do that earlier, and reads it as something that could be a nervous gesture. Maybe Qrow doesn’t like talking about his childhood? Gerry gets that.

He decides to circle back to the fears, at least for now. ]

I mean, nobody really knows exactly what these things are like or where they come from. As far as I can tell, they’re both beyond the universe but also part of it, you know? They literally are fear. Human fear, animal fear, all that.

Where I’m from, a lot of people split up these powers into fourteen different entities, to try and make sense of them. I marked myself for the Eye, but the book that I got bound to after I died belonged to a different one, called the End.
